[2nd ed. & German ed. in preparation.] One day the mother of Thom, a boy with autism, phoned me to ask if I was willing to guide her how to bring up her boy. I started to work with children with autism in 1976, but for the past fifteen years I do not work with families anymore. I mainly supervise professionals in twenty different countries to learn to use Marte Meo information about supporting developmental processes in different professional fields such as: Child Psychiatry, Intellectual Disability, Day Care, Kindergarten, School Projects, Healthcare, and so on.

But as so often happened during my professional career when these things come on my way, I used to say: "It is sent from Heaven." So, I thought about it a day and phoned her back: "Maybe we can make a win-win situation out of this. I will give you advice on how to stimulate your child with autism in his social and emotional development, from which I would like to make a film, so I will be able in the most lively way to transfer the regained information about this subject to parents and care givers all over the world."

The parents of Thom thought it a great idea. One of the golden Marte Meo rules is that information on supporting social and emotional development in daily interaction moments is transferred in an understandable and useful way. And this co-operation with the parents would make that happen again.

In the film the development process of Thom is shown. The process is shown in pictures of the daily life of Thom and his family over the period of one year, as well as parts of the reviewing sessions.

The information in the book is in reviewing style. You can follow how I transfer the practical Marte Meo information to the parents with the help of pictures of their daily life with Thom.

The family of Thom consists of: Father; Mother; Sister, 13 years old; Thom, 11 years old; Sister, 6 years old.

Auditorium Netzwerk had during the EFTA Congress the exclusive rights to sell the DVD.
