| [8-2-2008]Today the first MARTE MEO Introduction Course in Australia came to an end in Adelaide, South Australia. The initiator of this event, SALLY WATSON, of The Australian Association for Infant Mental Health, was very pleased with Maria Aarts’ work during this introduction week, not the least because of excellent results shown on the collected evaluation forms filled out by the participants. The participants unanimously asked for more information and wanted Maria therefore to come back to Australia in July/August. The Australian Association for Infant Mental Health is the Australian affiliate of the World Association for Infant Mental Health. It aims to improve professional and public recognition that infancy is a critical period in psychosocial development for the infant and the family, and to provide a forum for multidisciplinary interaction and co-operation for those who are involved and interested in working with infants and their caregivers. Every participant says this MARTE MEO Introduction Course concerns with information 100% needed in their every day professional work. One lady said: “I learned during these 4 days more, than in the past 19 years.” During this week participants even started to apply their just learned skills to their private social context. A clinician and childcare professionals work together as a team to support parents and children to develop healthy attachment relationships. Families are referred to us from child protection and welfare services, mental health services, and child health nurses and child care centers. |

| [5-2-2008]The first trip to Australia by Maria Aarts bringing MARTE MEO started in Adelaide at Monday, the 4th of February 2008. At Adelaide's University, Faculty of Medicine, the many listeners, although the academic season just had started, appeared to be very enthusiastic about her given overview of the MARTE MEO Method. The MARTE MEO Method was introduced during an one day seminar at the Lecture Theatre of the Basil Hetzel Building, University of South Australia, and was initiated by the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health. After this seminar a 4-days Introduction Course started at Adelaide. Participants of the course are preparing a first draft about their impressions of the course right now and we plan to publish that on this web site by the end of the week. |
