My Mother, My Inspiration
View Article in PDFExcerpt
[Budel/Eindhoven, 11-1-2012] Dear friends, this is my Mother’s mourning card (click on Flyer). The hearts printed behind some of the names point to my Mother’s grandchildren being pregnant at the moment.
The painting of the church is my brother’s, Tiek. Tiek painted Budel’s catholic church my Mother used to visit during her life.
We experienced a heart warming funeral at Mother’s »own« catholic church. Over 500 people came to church for the last service. Another 300 people stayed for lunch, because my Mother told us she liked everybody could stay after her funeral, having lunch like always was the custom at our house; at all times friends and family visiting us were welcome to eat.
It was beautiful to hear the many stories and good memories of the aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and old friends about our family life. Like many of them said: »At your family always everything seemed to be possible; we loved it staying with your family during the holidays.«
Each day during last December we children met at 11.00 o’clock to discuss how to make the situation perfect for our dying Mama during her last days. We divided the tasks of caring and waking and what need to be done to family couples (man & wife); this turned out to give us a great feeling of togetherness. For a week after her death we kept on doing so.
The coffin was covered totally by red roses. Mama is buried now in her grave together with our father, lying in front of their parents; so they are all close together resting under a cosy pine tree.
I feel so grateful for having experienced important parts of my Mother’s life and family, being her child, and for the way she could end her life surrounded by all of us. Just as she always has hoped for!
I like to thank all of you for your warm support during these days.
Your personal way of being with us in these times has been a great support to us!

We all wish you a healthy New Year!
Kindest regards,

View Article in PDFExcerpt
[Sydney, Australia - 22-7-2009] Soraiya Gharahkhani writes:
[Campbelltown MacArthur Advertiser, Wednesday 22-7-2009]:
An innovative program that provides emotional support and guidance to local indigenous parents won a major award last week.
Sydney South West Area Health Service's Boomerangs Parenting Program has been recognised at the NSW Health Aboriginal Health Awards.
The program is a national first and was developed by Chryne Griffiths and Patricia Glossop (now retired) from the Circle of Security and Marte Meo programs. Aboriginal program coordinator Chryne Griffiths said it targeted parents with young children. »It combines existing parenting techniques with the ancient wisdom of Aboriginal culture,« she said. Maria Aarts supervised Chryne and Patricia on the Marte Meo elements.
